Against the world domination of machines!

German artist Jan Meininghaus grew up with the Californian pop-culture of the 70s and 80s and being influenced by hardrock, skateboarding and kustom-kulture he became a professional illustrator in the late eighties.

Since then, it’s been making rock posters and cover-art, magazine covers, flyers, t-shirts, skate decks, comics, advertising illustrations and storyboards all the way. He’s worked with a whole range of global brands and clients from Volbeat, Kreator, ZZ-Top and P.E.T.A. through to Netflix, Ford, Stetson and many others.

Starting a few years before computers revolutionized the design process, Jan still had to learn how to use rub-on-letters, rulers, pens and brushes to create T-Shirt-Graphics and covers. "Of curse the design-process became a lot easier with Power-Macs, "Photoshop", and the rise of digital photography."

But for his new project "Born too late" Jan Meininghaus revives not only the look of the late 1970's but also the handmade approach of the last century: "With nowaday's technology it's easy for nearly everybody to create streamlined and high-end visuals. But the often interchangeable results became boring and I think we're ready for the little imperfections and the organic look of analog images and handmade illustrations again."
